The edition was split into five variants, i.e., different colored papers corresponding to the five complexions of the world’s population – black paper symbolic of Africans, white for Europeans, brown-red for Indians, yellowish-brown for East Asians, and gray for Australians. Behind the division lay a concept of universality-mankind, whatever the color of its skin, is one, writes Walter Koschatzky in the book Hundertwasser, The Complete Graphic Work 1951-1986 (Zurich / Schwäbisch Hall, 1986, p. 154.)
