Hundertwasser's comment on the work

Part of the relief is on the rear wall of the former studio of Eugène Delacroix and was probably destroyed by subsequent owners. Uneven walls on which drawn lines appear even more wavy, regardless of the perspective from which they are viewed, have always fascinated me. It is the secret of painted drapery. Here, in 1955 (...) I anticipated the wavy walls of the Hundertwasser house on Vienna's Löwengasse.(translation from: Hundertwasser Architecture, Cologne, 1997, p. 42)
